Where to start with the game prototypes

There are two alternative Stripe City worlds and an older, simpler funfair. They are different ways to reach the same collection of 29 mini-game prototypes. They are not three separate sets of games.

If you have ten minutes

  1. Spend a few minutes in Claude’s city. Use Map to visit a landmark, then Light it. You can try the environment without walking everywhere.
  2. Try one short skill game: Skyline Stack for timing and balance, or Storefront Cipher for deduction.
  3. Contrast it with Cheeky Pint, a real-time pub simulation. Change a price or buy furniture and watch what happens.
  4. Read What makes a good short game? before deciding which prototypes deserve more work.

Research and playable games are different

The research report contains 200 original proposals, grouped into five themes, with mechanics, risks, references and a 25-game shortlist. Scores are design judgments, not measured player enjoyment. Those 25 were built; four later additions bring the playable collection to 29.

Play the mini-games in the fair, use either city’s directory, or open the direct links above. Every game can also run on its own page.

The four later additions

These prototypes have functional and browser checks. They have not been validated as fun by human playtesting. All money, customers, posts and discounts are fictional or simulated. There are no real purchases or prizes.
